E foliga mai o le a talepeina e Beyoncé le faamaumauga o taimi uma mo le tele o Grammys na manumalo i lenei tausaga

The Grammys are only a few days away, and this year’s ceremony is bound to be especially thrilling for at least one artist. Beyoncé is already one of the most awarded musicians in history, and she is nowhere near done collecting trophies. The most-nominated artist this time around, the superstar is vying for a handful of prizes she’s never won before–such as both Record and Album of the Year–and she only needs a few more wins before she becomes the actual queen.

Here’s a look at just a handful of the ways Beyoncé can–and likely will–make history at the Grammys this year.

Most Grammys Won

Going into the 2023 ceremony, Beyoncé is tied with Quincy Jones for the second-most Grammys won, with 28 apiece. The two legends sit behind only conductor Georg Solti, who collected 31 during his lifetime.

With nine nominations this year alone, it seems highly likely that Beyoncé will add to her ever-expanding list of accolades, though by exactly how many is, of course, unclear.

If Beyoncé wins a single Grammy, she’ll break her tie with Jones and stand alone as the musician with the second-most prizes. If the superstar comes out on top in just three of the nine categories in which she’s in the running for a prize, she’ll tie Solti for the most Grammys won of all time. Four or more will make her the winningest artist ever.

It is theoretically possible that Beyoncé will walk away empty-handed (crazier things have happened at the Grammys), and if that happens, Alison Krauss has a chance to pass her. Krauss currently ranks behind Bey by a single trophy, and this year she’s up for a pair. If the Queen earns none and Krauss claims both, she’ll rank once again as the female artist with the most Grammys (and pass Jones in the process), and Beyoncé will fall to second.

Without wanting to jinx her chances, it will be strange if Beyoncé doesn’t win enough Grammys to best every other musician in history.

Most Decorated Album

Beyoncé may be nominated for nine Grammys this year, but not all of them are connected to her most recent album Faʻafouina. Just one is for a song not featured on the set, and while this is a very specific distinction, it matters when looking at one section of the history books.

If Faʻafouina wins all eight of the Grammys it’s up for, it will tie both Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Ray Charles’ Genius Loves Company for the third-most prizes won for an individual title.

Seven Grammys will put Bey’s latest on the same level as a handful of other projects–Quincy Jones’ Back on the Block, U2’s All That You Can’t Leave Behind, Norah Jones’ Sau Ma Aʻu, Adele’s 21 and Bruno Mars’ 24k togafiti–with the fifth-most wins for a single release.

Most Grammys Won In A Single Night

The all-time record for the most Grammys won in a single night by an artist remains eight, which both Michael Jackson and Santana accomplished in different years. Paul Simon comes in third with seven trophies snagged in an evening. Eight different talents–Roger Miller, Quincy Jones, Eric Clapton, Adele, Tom Elmhirst, Bruno Mars, Finneas O’Connell and even Beyoncé herself–have all taken home half a dozen honors at once before.

With nine nominations in nine different categories, Beyoncé could break the all-time record for the most Grammy wins in a night, though chances are she’ll earn enough gold to tie one of these records.
